Steam saturator – desuperheater

Steam saturators are used wherever Steam converting valves and/or injection coolers cannot cool the steam to the desired temperature. Meaning, dry saturated steam with the assigned saturated steam temperature.

This uses the principle of desuperheating steam by blowing hot or even saturated steam with a high pressure via a pressure reducing valve into a condensate filled tank below the water level. The steam bubbles through the condensate at saturated steam temperature, releasing the full overheating enthalpy to the condensate at the desired pressure.

RTK offers equipment suitable for this purpose:

For level regulation

  • Fill level measurement based on displacer weight measurement
  • Level regulator with HW/NW switchgear analogue/digital
  • Electric/pneumatic feed control valves for condensate
  • Pneumatic drain valves

For steam pressure regulation

  • Tank pressure measurement
  • Process controller for pressure
  • Electric/pneumatic control valves

For warm holding

  • Accumulator pressure measurement
  • Process controller for pressure
  • Electric/pneumatic control valves
